Skiing, Snow, and Spectacular Wipeouts - Our La Molina Adventure!
This half-term, we went on an incredible ski trip to La Molina in Spain! From start to finish, it was an unforgettable adventure, and we all had an amazing time.
The journey began with a mammoth 24-hour coach ride. It was long, but we made the most of it! Students kept themselves entertained with music, games and plenty of snacks, while staff took the opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved film and book time.
When we finally arrived, the sight of the snowy mountains made every mile worth it. On the slopes, we had students of all abilities - from complete beginners to experienced skiers carving their way down the runs. Everyone worked hard, picked up new skills, and experienced the thrill of gliding down the blue slopes.
It was fantastic to see our students pushing themselves, supporting each other, and embracing the sport we all love so much. We couldn’t have been prouder of how well-behaved and enthusiastic everyone was. The students cheered each other on, demonstrated incredible teamwork, and made the whole trip even more special.
Each evening, we held an awards ceremony - and let’s just say, there were some unforgettable moments! We handed out prizes for the best wipe out (there was no shortage of contenders), the fastest learner, and even the coveted ‘Best Effort at Staying Upright’ award. One particularly memorable moment was when a student spectacularly wiped-out Mr Swerling — do not worry, both survived to ski another day! Poor Mr Jardine also had his own challenge. He bravely joined the fearless purple group, who raced down the slopes at top speed and never seemed to need a break. While he may have dreamed of relaxing with a coffee, the students had other plans - straight back up the mountain for another run!
After full days on the slopes, the fun continued into the evenings. We had a fantastic mix of activities, including bowling, a quiz night, a disco and of course, a pizza night. Every event was filled with laughter and made for a great way to unwind after all the skiing. It was also brilliant to see so many staff giving skiing a go for the first time. Learning alongside the students was a truly special experience, even if it did involve a few spectacular tumbles! It just goes to show - you are never too old to try something new.
By the time we headed home, we were exhausted but buzzing with excitement, already talking about next year’s trip. A huge thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to organise and run this trip - without them, none of this would have been possible.
La Molina, you were incredible - see you again soon!
