Sixth Formers Deliver the Goods!
This week, nine of our Sixth Form students visited Sunbury Tesco Extra to buy food for our two local foodbanks, Manna (Staines) and St Saviour’s Foodbank (Sunbury). For some this was their first time buying such a lot of food in one go. Their challenge was to buy just what had been requested, within budget and deliver the goods. I am glad to say that they performed their challenge in an outstanding manner and worked well in pairs and as a group. It is always a pleasure to take them anywhere.
After the Tesco purchase, we went to St Saviour’s Church where Donna Mason, Social Transformation Pastor, took delivery, along with her volunteers, and gave a short talk about the many community support projects which run in St Saviour’s on a Monday and Thursday. Besides the foodbank being open on those mornings, there is a knitting group, a community lunch, breakfast for 50p donation or free, money and housing advice, Surplus to Supper food for anyone and a warm welcome.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our foodbank appeal before Christmas, to our nine Sixth Formers, to our local foodbank volunteers for supporting the local community and Mr Segala, Mrs Murphy, Mr Griffiths and Mrs Perry for helping on this trip.
