St Paul's Cathedral Service

On Thursday, Mrs Ratnayake (School Chaplain), Mr Bailey (Religious Studies) and eight Year 7 representatives, attended the London Diocesan Board of Schools' Annual Service of Celebration at St Paul's Cathedral. It has been 100 years since the forming of the LDBS.

St pauls

We travelled together with students from St Mary's C of E Primary School and worshipped with thousands of other students from Church of England schools in London Diocese.

The Cathedral was packed, but we were fortunate to get great seats under the Dome. There was a dramatic Bible passage reading with dancers and flying paper eagles. The Right Reverend Lusa Nsenga-Ngoy, Bishop of Willesden gave the reflection about God's love and 'strength beyond time' and we saw lots of different types of art work that adorn the cathedral, including the newly repositioned, 'The Light of the World', by Holman Hunt https://www.stpauls.co.uk/light-of-world-by-william-holman-hunt

Our student representatives were wonderful role models for St Mary's students and were able to share with them some of their Bishop Wand story so far, plus the periodic table elements song and pi song!

Today I learnt...

'...different hymns and stories'

'that the picture was an option for us to welcome Jesus'

'...about the crib'

'the different Bible verses and hymns'

'God is everlasting'

'that our School was made in 1969'

My experience today helped me reflect on...

'my relationship with God'

'God'

'how the cathedral was made'

'how beautiful St Paul's Cathedral is, and why it is important for Christian schools to gather'

'...on the church religion as a whole community'

The thing that impressed me most about the Cathedral or service was...

'how big it is'

'the detail in the roof and how much time and effort it took'

'the steel band and choir'

'the flying birds'

'the dramatic speeches'
