Young Chef of the Year
On 22nd March 2016, Richmond upon Thames College opened its doors to around 50 guests for the 2016 Young Chef of the Year competition final.
After a competitive semi-final round, Bishop Wand was the only school to have two teams through to the finals. Monica McKenzie & Anita Obamwoyi together with Joshua Shea and Maddi Bell prepared and cooked a two course meal for ten people, whilst receiving mentorship from Marc Wainwright, Head Chef at local Chiswick restaurant, Le Vacherin and James Unwin, Catering Manager at RuTC
Guests included parents of the finalists, members of staff from Bishop Wand along with staff from Richmond upon Thames College. Guests dined on meals served by different schools, and then marked each course a mark out of 10 for the taste, texture, flavour and presentation of each dish. The final outcome was decided by Marc Wainwright.
Whilst both teams from Bishop Wand produced outstanding dishes, Joshua Shea and Maddi Bell were announced the proud winners.
Joshua commented, “It was a difficult competition as everyone competing put lots of effort in but I was really happy that the hard work paid off in the end!”
Congratulations to both teams, you all should be very proud of your achievements. Mrs T Jones, Teacher in charge of Food Technology
