STEM - F1 for Schools
Last week we hosted our first STEM ambassador Stephen Wahl, for an aerodynamics workshop for our entry and development class teams. The students were very excited to understand how the design of F1 cars could affect the performance on the track. Students have to design and model a miniature F1 car that will, on competition day, be shot down a 20m track. Teams gain points for the speed of their car, therefore their knowledge and understanding is crucial in their success. Stephen introduced himself and his link to Formula 1 Williams and Jaguar Formula E, this insistently ignited our teams enthusiasm. Students took part in practical tests, sending a model car down a track with different shapes attached, timing to see the effect on the cars performance. We look forward to seeing the development of their designs and how they apply this knowledge.
